Talk Therapy

CBT

CBT is the "gold standard" for many because it’s practical and action-oriented. It operates on the idea that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. If you can identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, you can change how you feel and act.

  • Best for: Anxiety, depression, and phobias.
  • The Vibe: Collaborative and "homework" heavy.

ACT

While CBT tries to change thoughts, ACT teaches you to stop fighting them. Using mindfulness, you learn to accept difficult inner emotions so they lose their power over you. You then commit to actions that align with your personal values.

  • Best for: Chronic pain, stress, and finding life purpose.
  • The Vibe: Philosophical, mindful, and grounding.

Solution Focussed Therapy

SFBT is the "fast-forward" button of therapy. Instead of diving deep into past traumas or why a problem exists, it focuses almost entirely on the future and your strengths. It asks: "What does a life without this problem look like, and how do we get there today?"

Best for: Specific life goals and short-term challenges.

The Vibe: Hopeful, energetic, and brief.

Schema Therapy

Think of this as "CBT Plus." It’s designed for deeper-rooted issues that don’t seem to budge. It looks at "schemas"—long-standing patterns or themes developed in childhood that lead us to react to the world in specific (and often painful) ways.

  • Best for: Personality disorders and recurring relationship "traps."
  • The Vibe: Deep, healing, and focused on the "inner child."

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing

EMDR is a unique, non-talk-based therapy specifically for trauma. It uses bilateral stimulation (like guided eye movements or tapping) to help the brain "reprocess" traumatic memories so they no longer trigger an intense emotional physical response.

  • Best for: PTSD and past traumatic events.
  • The Vibe: Technical, focused, and transformative.

Couples Therapy

This isn't about picking a "winner" in an argument; it’s about the relationship being the client. Most modern couples therapy (like the Gottman Method or EFT) focuses on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and de-escalating the "loops" of conflict that partners get stuck in.

  • Best for: Improving intimacy, navigating conflict, or pre-marital check-ins.
  • The Vibe: Mediated, balanced, and communicative.
